The mayor of San Pedro Garza García, Mauricio Farah Giacomán, toured the comprehensive regeneration works on Avenida Alfonso Reyes to check on the construction process. Accompanied by the Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, Ángeles Galván, the mayor supervised the work from Santa Barbara to Diego de Montemayor and confirmed that the first markings for the construction of underground ducts are already being made.
"As you can see, it's marked with chalk and it's all going pretty much where it's supposed to go. We're talking about the underground duct that will eventually house all the cables. And those larger squares you see, that's where all the CFE connection points will be," said the mayor.
The first stage of the regeneration project covers 3.6 kilometers, from Avenida Olimpiadas to Jerónimo Treviño, with an estimated execution time of 10 months. The project includes wide sidewalks for shared use by pedestrians and cyclists, underground cabling, smart traffic lights, new signage, and the renewal of tree planting with native species.
Farah Giacomán asked the population for patience when driving on the avenue and assured that they are working to free up the roadways before the projected 10 months of construction.
"We are already touring the site, trying to do it very frequently, two or three times a week. The secretary comes practically daily, but we are doing well, on schedule, very happy, and waiting for the first results to be seen," explained the mayor.
In addition, he indicated that 10% of the construction of the project has been completed, and added that they are in constant talks with CFE and Telecommunications companies to begin the underground cabling.
